Meet the Kaz(s)

The Karens’ interest in Puppetry came as a result of a training day in Lisburn in 1997, which they went on to have a break from the kids!!! After the training they encouraged others in their Church to get involved with this new exciting ministry and here they are with Kaz & Co the result of an exciting journey into their 40s, where, after all, life begins!!!

KAREN WEBB

Karen Webb after leaving full time education spent 2 years as a Mission Partner with the Church Mission Society Ireland teaching in a secondary school in Western Kenya.

After returning, Karen spent the next 8 years working for CMSi as their Education Secretary for Ireland. During this time Karen was responsible for writing and presenting the annual project, organising and running youth and children’s camps across Ireland. With a lifetime interest in Drama, she worked with CMSi young people to form a drama/singing team. This team then spent time travelling around different Churches presenting the Gospel in a new and creative way.

Karen leads a Children’s Creative Arts Group in her Church. She is married to Tim, a journalist. They have two daughters Amy (1993) and Caroline (1995).

KAREN BOWDEN

Karen works full time as a Learning Assistant to children with special educational needs. From September 2002 until September 2004 she took a career break to pursue puppet ministry in schools with Karen Webb.

She founded and led a children’s creative arts group for several years, teaching and encouraging children to use their creative gifts in worship.

Her lifelong passion is music, and she is actively involved in the music ministry of her local church, singing and leading worship, and in encouraging young people to develop their musical gifts.

She is married to Jeremy and has a teenage son, Neil and a very spoiled dog called Storm! Karen Bowden has returned to full time employment in Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School. So for daytime events we now have an new ‘Kaz’ (though he does not have a ‘K’ in his name anywhere). We are pleased to welcome...
Captain John O'Neil of Church Army
JOHN O’NEIL

To give him his full title, he is Captain (or could that be Kaptain) John O’Neil of the Church Army. John is an ‘Itinerant Evangelist’. In practice this means he loves God, people, puppets and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Click here to read an article about John. If you look carefully at the poster the boy on the bike is holding, you will see how Harley’s and puppets go together!

Karen Webb and John O’Neill now undertake all the schools ministry work under the banner of Church Army.
